Lomonosov Moscow State University is one of the oldest and largest classical universities in Russia, the center of Russian science and culture, founded in 1755. The University includes 15 research institutes, 43 faculties and more than 600 buildings.
The Main Building of Moscow State University on Vorobyovy Gory is a famous landmark of Moscow and an architectural monument in the style of "Stalin Empire". The height of the building is 183 meters, with the spire — 240 meters.
The building was originally conceived as an enclosed space with all amenities (like a "city within a city") like other Stalinist skyscrapers. There is a cultural center, a dormitory, a swimming pool, canteens, living quarters, public and scientific organizations in addition to numerous classrooms, lecture halls and laboratories.
The MSU Botanical Garden with an area of more than 30 hectares is located next to the Main Building. It contains the main collections of open ground, especially ornamental plants, the flowering of which guests can enjoy during their stay at Moscow State University.
The observation deck is located a kilometer away from the Main building. This is the top point of the Vorobyovy Gory Park, from where you can appreciate the stunning view of the surrounding area.
You can walk or use the cable car, which operates all year round, to go down to the river, liners are always on duty at the pier, on which you can make a river trip in good weather. For nature lovers, the territory of the Vorobyovy Gory is ideal: there is the embankment of the Moskva River, many pleasant forest trails and routes; ponds, squares and sports grounds are located in the forest.
